Dr. Hendrix studied Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine before returning to Texas to specialize in Dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He has practiced Dermatology in Austin since 1992. He is a past President of the Austin Dermatological Society and is active in the Texas Dermatological Society. He has for many years been named among the best physicians in Texas by Texas Monthly magazine, and has been named one of the top four dermatologists in Austin by US News and World Report magazine.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin, Shirien conducted research in Psychiatry at the University of Utah. She and her husband then dedicated a year of service to humanity in Yueyang, Hunan Province, People’s Republic of China, teaching English in the public school system.
In 2003, Shirien completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA throughout the program. Shirien has earned a multitude of honors, awards, and scholarships, including one awarded by her faculty and peers in PA school for her character and academic achievements. She is a member of the Alpha Eta Society, an Allied Health Honor Society.
Shirien is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Shirien has more than ten years of experience in dermatology. As a Physician Assistant, Shirien is licensed to diagnose and treat all dermatologic medical conditions including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff, hair loss, infections of the skin/nails, to name just a few. Shirien is trained to perform full body skin exams, skin cancer screenings and surgical procedures including, but not limited to: shave biopsies, punch biopsies, minor excisions, curettage/electrodessication to treat skin cancers, as well as cryotherapy (“freezing”).
